Cecil Atencio Bisbee Turquoise Ring size 9
Born in 1956, Navajo silversmith Cecil Atencio has been smithing silver since his early twenties. He was born near Chaco Canyon at Kimbeto, New Mexico, which is little more than a curve in the gravel road situated in a place with blinding dust storms. He currently resides in Tohajiilee, New Mexico with his wife, children and grandchildren.
This is a ring style that Cecil has been making for years, but we had him customize this a bit by making it with a heavier, more durable shank and by furnishing him with our premium turquoise to set in the rings. All the stones we furnished were cut by master lapidary Bruce Mead with a thick, carat-rich cut characterized by a nice dome. You'll love the stone, the design and the feel of this fine ring.
Set with natural, untreated Bisbee turquoise from Arizona, this is a scaled-down version of a ring Cecil usually makes with very large stones. With this size stone, the ring is more suited to everyday wear. The stone is set in a 3/16" smooth bezel wrapped with twist wire. The band of this split-shank design splits into four narrower bands before attaching to the ring back. This is traditional Navajo smithing with a fine natural turquoise stone in a truly handmade ring designed for comfortable, everyday wear.
Stamped C ATENCIO and STERLING on the ring back.
