Harrison Jim Morenci Turquoise Sterling Ingot Ring 14
Not quite forty years old, Harrison Jim is an accomplished silversmith who works in many styles but favors the classic designs best described as Navajo Traditional Revival. His work is done in the old-fashioned way by melting silver and hammering it out to form his pieces.
This design is a superb example of cold chisel work. No large metal stamp creates this design of radiating lines. Each groove is hammered free-hand to combine into the larger design of rays emanating from this lively blue, high-domed "Persian cut" of natural, untreated Morenci turquoise from Arizona. The stone is set in a handmade, notched bezel. This ring is very hefty and has the sort of weight that someone with a size 14 finger desires and expects in a ring. The band gently tapers towards the back of the shank. Superb!
Hallmarked inside "HJIM" with a jewelr's scribe where the "H" is above the "J" in "JIM."
